My 2008 Intentions

Well, every four years it happens, we have a Presidential election. And, this is the first time since 1952 that we have neither an incumbent president or vice president seeking a party nomination, leaving the race for the White House wide open in both parties. Yet, the excitement of the novelty of this wide open race has begun to wear thin as candidates begin campaigning earlier and earlier. We are slightly less than a year away from the first nominating caucus of the 2008 campaign, and next week, the first candidate forum for Democrats will occur in Nevada. Given the number of candidates entering the race, I feel compelled to make the following announcement:

After careful consideration and much thought, I have determined that since I have not reached the Constitutionally mandated minimum age to serve, I will not be a candidate for President in 2008.

Given that I will not be running, I will be spending the next months studying the candidates, particularly on the Republican side, and will support one of them during the primary cycle. I can not, however, guarantee that if that person does not win the nomination that I will be supporting a Republican in 2008.
